Convention
Convention is the heart of the Intrigue experience, an inclusive, explorative environment where dancers are free to take risks, try new styles and grow as artists. Over one weekend, dancers take 10 classes (8 at a Micro event) across Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Ballet, Tap, Musical Theatre, Lyrical and Ballroom, with offerings tailored to each event. Every convention culminates in a live show where dancers perform alongside our creators, and select cities feature opportunities to dance in front of top talent agents. Over $50,000 in scholarships is distributed per event.

Studio Owner / Teacher
10 classes, 8 at a Micro event. Registered teachers have access to all convention rooms and may observe audition classes.
Observer Pass
Full event, multi-day. Limited per city. Pre-purchase through your studio portal; not sold on-site. Family members only. Children 9 and younger cannot observe; children 10 to 12 may observe with a purchased band when accompanied by a parent with a purchased band.

Rules & Guidelines
- Age Divisions
- Mini (5-9), Junior (10-12), Teen (13-15), Senior (16-21). Ages are determined as of January 1, 2027. Each division receives 10 classes at a main event and 8 at a Micro event.
- Studio Registration Required
- Intrigue does not accept independent students. All dancers must be registered with a studio.
- Payment Deadline
- Fees must be paid in full 30 days prior to the event or discount rates will not be applied and late tuition applies. See the tour dates listing for cut-off dates. No refunds on convention fees. No exceptions.
- Attendance
- Dancers must attend both days of classes to remain eligible for scholarships. Switching divisions requires prior approval and forfeits scholarship eligibility.
- Class Admission
- Dancers going for scholarships must have an audition number to participate in class. Dancers not going for scholarships are given a class band. Teachers and observers must wear a wristband provided by Intrigue.
- Photography & Video
- Video cameras and photography are not allowed in the convention rooms at any time. Intrigue reserves the right to use any images taken during the convention for promotional purposes.
- Observers
- Observer bands may only be purchased by family members of registered attendees, and may not be used by teachers, studio owners or dancers. Observers are not allowed to participate, take notes, pictures or video at any time during class. Observers are not permitted in audition classes.

When calculating the total number of free teachers and free hotel nights, do not include scholarship recipients or observers. Only count full paid convention attendees.
*Intrigue reimburses at the Intrigue hotel rate only. Book the room yourself and email the receipt to info@gointrigue.com for reimbursement. Intrigue does not book on your behalf.

Intrigue Scholarships: 15%, 25%, 50% or 100% off convention classes, awarded by faculty at each event. Dancers must attend both class days to remain eligible.
Scholarship Transfer Policy
This applies to every Intrigue scholarship recipient, including Apprentice and True Performer. Intrigue scholarships are non-transferable. Changing studios forfeits your scholarship without the approval of the studio under which you won it. The owner or director of your original studio is within their right to withhold approval if they deem it appropriate.

Scholarship holders: become an Intrigue Assistant
Apprentice and True Performer recipients are eligible to audition for Assistant positions at Nationals: travel to 35 or more cities, perform in Welcome Shows, and receive airline reimbursement.

- What should my dancer wear?
- Comfortable dance attire appropriate for the class style. Bring multiple pairs of dance shoes (jazz, ballet, sneakers). Hair secured, no jewelry.
- Can parents watch classes?
- A limited number of observer passes ($100) are available per city and must be pre-purchased through your studio portal. They are not sold on site, and observers are not permitted in audition classes. Children 9 and younger cannot observe. Children 10 to 12 may observe with a purchased band when accompanied by a parent with a purchased band.
- What age can my child start?
- The Mini division accepts dancers ages 5 to 9 as of January 1, 2027.
- Are there multi-city discounts?
- Studios with a paid registration attending more than one regional convention in the same season receive a 25% convention fee discount in the second city and a 30% discount in the third city. The discount only applies to students attending each qualifying city, and does not apply when a scholarship is used as payment at a prior regional event.
- What payment methods are accepted?
- Visa, MasterCard, AmEx, Discover and checks. Returned checks incur a $25 fee.
