Rules & Guidelines

Eligibility: Open to all registered convention attendees. Dancers must have at least one competing solo entry to be eligible for Imagination Solo.
Entry Limit: Each dancer may enter only one Imagination Solo. The solo must be both choreographed and performed by the same dancer.
Time Limit: 3 minutes maximum per routine.
Age Divisions: Mini, Junior, Teen, and Senior divisions. Divisions follow standard Intrigue age division rules.
Judging & Results: Adjudications include audio critiques and scores sent through the studio portal. Results are not announced on site. National finalists are announced at the Gala per age division.
Gauntlet: Imagination Solo entries are not eligible for the Gauntlet at Nationals.

FAQ

How is Imagination Solo different from a Competition solo?: Competition solos are judged on technical excellence and performance quality. Imagination Solo prioritizes creative vision and originality. The choreography must be your own.
Do I need a separate solo entry to qualify?: Yes. You must have at least one competing solo entry (in Competition or another platform) to be eligible for Imagination Solo.
Do entry limits apply to Imagination Solo?: Yes. Starting January 2027 at Intrigue regional events, Imagination solos count as part of your studio's maximum amount of solos. The minimum to compete in any capacity is 5 convention dancers, so only studios that have 5 or more dancers will be allowed to add Imagination solo entries.
Is Imagination Solo available at every city?: No. Imagination Solo is exclusive to Nationals and select regional cities. Check the tour dates page for availability at your event.
Can I enter both Imagination Solo and Imagination group?: Yes, these are separate categories within the Imagination platform.
