About the Show
BRIO is a high-energy dance performance that celebrates vitality, confidence, and being alive together. It moves like a party — pulsing, rhythmic, and collective — while allowing moments of vulnerability to surface. Rather than stopping the joy, these moments reveal what it takes to keep it going. BRIO lives in the tension between outward celebration and inner exposure, showing joy not as constant happiness, but as something earned, shared, and deeply human.
A Note from Katie
I wanted to make something that feels like being at a great party — that rush of music, bodies, and connection — but without pretending that everyone’s always okay. BRIO lets joy and vulnerability exist in the same space. The movement is rhythmic and collective, but it occasionally softens, fractures, or slows, so you see the effort underneath the celebration. It’s really about how we keep showing up with energy, even when things feel exposed.

Music & Sound Design
All music in BRIO is drawn from the work of Fred again.. Rather than building the evening from multiple composers or contrasting sonic worlds, BRIO commits to a single artistic voice. This choice is intentional: it allows the show to exist inside one emotional and rhythmic ecosystem, where themes are not reset with each track, but instead deepen, repeat, and transform over time.
Fred again..’s music carries a sense of intimacy within electronic structure — field recordings, voice fragments, and lived-in textures layered into driving rhythm. In BRIO, these elements become more than score; they function as memory, atmosphere, and internal monologue. The consistency of one artist across the entire work allows the choreography to stay in conversation with itself, rather than responding to new external stimuli.
By removing the shift between composers, BRIO invites the audience to notice nuance: how repetition becomes evolution, how sound accumulates meaning, and how a single sonic language can hold multiple emotional states without needing to change voice.
